A BADLY-NEEDED KIND OF LOVE!

For this piece, let me divert a little from love of partner to love of fellowmen.

There are published reports that the town of Hagonoy in Bulacan has run out of drinking water and food for its residents who had been displaced by floods from typhoon Pedring.

Reports say residents walk for up to 10 kilometers in search of drinking water and there is hardly any relief from the local and provincial government.

Residents are openly complaining that Hagonoy is being ignored in favor of the neighboring flooded-town of Calumpit, reportedly home to the governor and his wife who is also the congresswoman of Hagonoy.

So for once, people, let me personally appeal to you.

Let’s help the residents of Hagonoy. Let’s share whatever we can to ease their suffering. There’s no minimum to what we can give.

Be it P5 or P1,000 or more, one or a dozen gallons of drinking water, a can or a whole box of canned goods or clothes, a kilo or a sack of rice, anything will be most welcome.

Whatever we share will go a long way in saving a life, or providing even a little comfort, to the flood victims. The life you save may someday be your own.

Invite your friends to join you in sharing your blessings. Call, text or chat with them about it. Hagonoy residents need all the help they can get.

Send or bring your donations ONLY to known charity foundations or organizations. Better yet, go directly to Hagonoy if you can and give it straight to the flood victims.

Not to politicians, please.

Consider it as your early Christmas gift to the flood victims, and your response to God’s wish for all of us to share whenever we can.

In Hagonoy and anywhere else where there are still  stranded, hungry and cold victims of typhoon Pedring.

As our Saviour Jesus Christ said: “Whatever you do  to the least of my bretheren, you do unto me.”  30
